Today, I had a soul-searching conversation with a sista' in Christ of mine. Maybe soul-searching is too intense of a word; it was more of a venting session and I would just like to share some of our noteworthy conversation topics.
1. Why are Christians the biggest crap-heads on this planet?
--Okay, this may seem very harsh when you first read it. it may also seem hypocritical of me also, since I claim Christianity. However.. if you really stop to ponder things, you might see where I am coming from. What is non-Christian's biggest complaint about Christianity? Christians. Gandhi said, "I do not have a problem with your Christ, I have a problem with your Christians". Ouch. But seriously, if I think about the biggest issues I have had in my life.. they always go back to Christians. It's funny, we think because we are Christians we are invincible to any rules. Thoughts include--"oops I was mean, I can ask forgiveness for that later" instead of apologizing for our wrongdoings. I mean, really? I have found that some Christians treat those around them like scum because for some crazy reason, they think they are "better" because they have themselves some Jesus. HOW does this make sense? Did Jesus not do his best to reach out and treat EVERYONE like they were special, a prize won for the kingdom of God? Where have those values gone to?
2. It's okay to be angry.
--Now let me clarify. It is okay to be hurt&&upset because well, sometimes (as stated before) people can be huge bumheads. but ACTING on that anger is a total different thing. I have found that just simply saying, "bless their hearts" and going on with your day is a million times better. yep, I love being raised southern.. don't judge. but seriously, if you don't react.. it drives others crazy and saves A LOT of frustration.
3. Sometimes I want to punch people.
--See above. But I don't act on it, would you like to know why? Because I think that God can punch people much harder than I could ever, so I figure I'll just let Him handle it. && I ask Him that if I ever treat others as horrible as I/friends/family have been treated, that He might smite me.
4. No one is really better than anyone else.
--This is because we all rely on grace. (uhh-mazing, grace)
On that note, I am going to say how thankful I am for true friends who know how to actually be there for you. To tell you that you are straying from the path in ways that promote love.. to laugh with you over ridiculous moments in your day.. to cry when you are broken.. and to call someone a skank when there are no other words. yep, life sure is sweet.
